“Churchgate is more like a boutique hotel, than a B&B”
Churchgate, opposite the beautiful, small and ancient church of St Nicholas, is in the charming, picturesque seaside village of Itchenor about 7 miles (15 minutes) south of the historic cathedral city of Chichester on the Manhood Peninsula. It is also within easy reach of East Head beach at West Wittering (10 mins) and Goodwood (20 mins). Why not bring your wellies, beach bags, bikes and tennis rackets (we have our own tennis court) and relax!
Whether you are planning a trip to Chichester’s Festival Theatre, attending a special event at Goodwood, or just wanting to enjoy a walk on the beach, Itchenor B&B is the perfect bolt hole near the sea. Plan your stay with advice from us on the best restaurants locally and some of our favourite things to do, which include a day out with a bucket and spade or a surf at West Wittering beach, sailing over to the Isle of Wight from Chichester Harbour, or exploring our beautiful South Downs National Park. The list of things to do is endless and everything is within easy reach of Itchenorbandb.co.uk
Just a few minutes walking distance from the sea, Itchenor’s two pubs and coffee shop, and set well back from the road in the grounds of our family home, our two-bedroom cottage has a calm and friendly atmosphere and is the perfect bolthole from which to explore our beautiful West Sussex countryside, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We appreciate that you would like to find somewhere special for your holiday and our rooms overlooking the Church and our pretty garden are just that!
Our cottage has two separate double bedrooms with lovely views: one has a luxurious and comfy King Size double bed; the other has twin single beds, all of which are made up with top quality cotton bed linen. Both bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms: one has a bath; the other has a shower, and both are fully equipped with warm, fluffy towels and a selection of complimentary bath products for use during your stay. Downstairs our guests appreciate the large, bright sitting room and the fully equipped kitchen area, which also has a separate utility room and w.c. Off the kitchen are double doors leading to a private terrace overlooking our garden where you can enjoy breakfast outside, a glass of wine at sunset or reading a book in the sunshine.
Breakfast is left ready for you to enjoy at your leisure each day in the cottage kitchen, usually including fresh eggs, freshly baked bread, home-made jams, yoghurt, cereals and fresh fruit – much of it organic or out of our extensive kitchen garden.
Churchgate has been enjoyed by many repeat visitors over the last 17 years as it is in a very special and lovely area of England. It has been highly recommended in Alastair Sawday’s Special Places to Stay/Garden Lovers. However, please note that the cottage has been lovingly renovated ready for 2018 by the new owners.
